Full upgrade of NCE subscriptions is now GA
Microsoft has released several ways for customers to upgrade an existing subscription to a new or existing subscription. With this release, AppDirect's support for 'full upgrades' of Microsoft NCE subscriptions is GA.
Here are all the upgrade flows that are supported:
- Full upgrade into an existing subscription
- Full upgrade into a new subscription
- Partial upgrade into an existing subscription
- Partial upgrade into a new subscription
For more information on full grades, refer to the related documentation.
Improvements in this release:
- Full upgrades attempt full license transfer - there is no need to unassign licenses before proceeding with a full upgrade to new or existing subscriptions.
note
- There are some edge cases where the license transfer will fail on Microsoft, typically due to what is known as ‘service incompatibility’. But assignments will transfer successfully in a marketplace. This is known behavior and all license assignments are transferred to upgraded subscriptions.
- Updated UI text - we updated the text to inform users to unassign users from licenses before they attempt a Partial Upgrade as neither systems know which user should be assigned to upgraded licenses unless users are unassigned and reassigned. Partial upgrade is not blocked if all licenses are assigned.
Prerequisite
Partial upgrades must be enabled first before full upgrades can be enabled.
Feature enablement
The feature is not enabled by default. Contact your AppDirect technical representative to request it.
Setting enablement
No setting enablement is required.
Documentation
